WHERE TO EAT

The Big Dilemma
Wow. What can I say. I've lived here for 20+ years and the choices for food has always been slim. Recently Fud Bistro in Stayner closed. Of course it closed; it was pretty good. The new owners of the Dyconia Resort never did re-open the Dining Room. We do have a Swiss Chalet now, and, one of the best chain Restaurants known for awful tasting food. Boston Pizza.

I know. I'm suppose to tell you where the good spots are. If you find one let me know. To make matters worse. The Superstore (Grocery etc.) has the worst produce, fruit and meat. If you want a good Grocery store I recommend the Loblaws or Sobey's in Collingwood.

The Hot Veal Hut
1288 Mosley Street
Wasaga Beach
The hot veal hut offers italian sandwiches; meatball, veal, philly cheesesteak as well as pasta and other yummy offerings. It's about time! Authentic sandwiches like the ones I remember in little italy. Mosley street across from Topper's Pizza and Tim Hortons. (Riverbend Plaza area). You can have lunch or dinner for two here for $15. Extremely reasonable prices and large portions.

For an expanded list of eateries in Wasaga Beach please check out the "Where to Eat" page at wasaga.com.

PIZZA FOR EVERYONE

Pizza Holidays and Pizza

When you come to the beach it's almost guaranteed that pizza will be involved. Once the summer arrives your choices multiply as the strip at the Main Beach Area starts to come alive.

You have your corporate presence with Pizza Pizza in the Main Beach Area and Boston Pizza on Main Street. The most popular spot these days seems to be Toppers beside the Riverbend Plaza. And, further west on Mosley we now have Domino's. And let's not forget the long standing independent, Pizza Dees. And lastly, at Mosley and 45th we have Pizza Depot. I must add that the worst slice of Pizza I have ever tried to consume was from Pizza Depot.

More Pizza

And now, for something not so corporate tasting. Tesoro Restaurant in Collingwood (18 School House Lane) serves up a authentic thin crust gourmet Pizza which is delicioso. They also have a great menu with many traditional Italian favourites. And over in the Village at Blue, The Firehall Pizza Co. also serves up a barrage of authentic style Pizzas although they might have changed their recipe from when they first opened. My last visit didn't inspire me or my taste buds.

There is a variety of eating options out at the Village at Blue. It's worth the trip over there as the variety is enticing. Still no Indian Food. Maybe someday.
